Today we kick off the inaugural Top 25 Cryptocurrencies January 2014 list for you. Currently there are at least 235 cryptocurrencies in existence, with more being created every week it seems.

A Bitcoin faucet is a great way to earn free Bitcoins. What exactly is a Bitcoin faucet? It is a website that allows you to share your Bitcoin wallet address in exchange for a small amount of Bitcoin for free. These sites come and go so review your bookmarks regularly.

Most bitcoin faucets have a catch. You usualy need to do something in return for the virtual currency reward. For example, the website Surf4bitcoin.com requires you to download and install a browser plugin which tracks your surfing habits. Once a month they host a drawing and award one lucky user 50 Bitcoins. That is a wopping $50,000 USD value at the time of writing this article!

Bunny Run awards winners a fraction of a Bitcoin if the enter their wallet address and pick the first, second, or third place bunny in a game. Some faucets payout out quickly and others take more time. Some only payout once. As mentioned before, a few only award lucky winners with Bitcoin.

The reason Bitcoin faucets exist is to attract attention and traffic to a website. In addition some seek to also generate additonal advertising revenue to further monetize that traffic.

Here is a large list of Bitcoin faucets, Bong-Bitcoin. This site organizes the faucets by payout interval. Don’t forget that other crypto currencies also offer faucets. Both Litecoin and Ripple, the number 2 and 3 virtual currencies by market cap to Bitcoin have faucets available.
